Iceland is a land of mystical, otherworldly landscapes-- from the towering fjords and waterfalls, to the black sand and glass beaches-- making it a highly sought out tourist destination year round. Our weekend tours are built around the capital city Reykjavik, which is the starting point for most Icelandic adventures, but should also be considered a destination in it's own. Summer Itinerary only: Day 1: Upon your arrival, head out on a walking tour of Reykjavik. Stops might include the Old Harbour, Hallgrimskirkja Cathedral or the city's charming town centre. Then hop aboard a private vehicle and explore the Golden Circle's lesser-known side: visit the Kerid Crater, enjoy lunch at a geothermal farm (cooked over volcanic heat), and then take in Iceland's "golden hour" with a leisurely soak at the Secret Lagoon Hot Springs. At night you can opt to head to a local brewery and sample from a flight of craft beers. Day 2: Take a ferry over to Videy Island to explore the beautiful natural landscapes and unique artwork there, (including the Imagine Peace Tower, designed by Yoko Ono in tribute to her late husband John Lennon). Enjoy a free afternoon in Reykjavik to explore at your leisure. Opt to visit the famous Blue Lagoon, head out on a whale watching excursion, go horseback riding, go snorkeling in one of the world's top 10 dive sites, or simply explore the local shops and cafes in town. Day 3: The last day of this tour is yours to spend as you choose. Visit the Perlan Museum to learn about Iceland's unique geological features, glaciers and wildlife, or stop by the revolving restaurant for lunch with a view. (Don't miss out on a local delicacy: the Icelandic hotdog). Note: The Winter Itinerary offers different activities, including a unique opportunity to view the northern lights from a boat out on the open sea.
